The university held the second All-Area Student Recital of the year in Longaker Recital Hall Nov. 6. Eleven music students performed.

Vocal performers included Holly Stanley, Makenna Belt, Osvaldo Gil, Ann Casey, Alexandra Witzig, Desiree Jackson, Taylor Lahr, Preston Shafer, Sarah Gould and Ja’Shon Burks.

Junior Desiree Jackson said that she “loves the variety of different pieces performed.” Jackson sang “Se il ciel mi divide” from “Alessandro nelle Indie.”

“I’ve grown up in a music household,” Jackson said. “It is second nature to me. I’ve never had an interest in classical performing until I started taking lessons here with Professor Joni Killian. Now I enjoy it.”

In addition to the vocal performances, Holly Stanley performed “Song Without Words, Op. 19, No. 4” on the piano, and Travis Hogg performed “Andante and Allegro” on the tuba with an accompaniment by Pamela Haynes.

The next All-Area Recital will be held Nov. 20, in the Longaker Recital Hall. It is free and open to the general public.
