The 3rd annual JR/SR formal will be held April 27. Organized by the Student Senate, this is the first year that the dance and dinner will be held at the same location.

The event will be held at The Lantern located just outside of Fort Wayne.

Jordan VanEngen, a junior senate member who is on the planning committee for the dance, said that the Lantern had an ideal location and price range.

“I did some research in the Fort Wayne area and this venue was reasonable in all the categories we [the planning committee] were looking for. I especially liked the location because it is in Fort Wayne but far enough away from the busy traffic and downtown to make it less congested and easier to get to. Decorations were already provided and they were able to cater to gluten free and vegetarians on the meal choices as well,” said VanEngen.

The dinner is for juniors and seniors only, but the dance is open to all students.

Junior senate member Hannah Hochstetler likes the idea of underclassmen being able to come to the dance.

“Everybody gets to come together,” she said. “It’s a good opportunity to relax and have some fun before finals set in, as well as it’s one of the last campus opportunities to spend time with the seniors before they graduate.”

Jordan VanEngen agreed.

“It was fun as underclassmen to go to the dance,” VanEngen said. “Even though upperclassmen are dressed up, it gives seniors one last event with friends.”

Tickets for the event are $20.HU, and junior Brittney Fitzgerald believes the price is fair.

“My prom was $60 per couple so I believe $20 per person is reasonable,” Fitzgerald said.

Not only do the girls look forward to the Junior/Senior formal, but the guys anticipate the event as well. Senior Andrew Malloy believes Junior/Senior is an exclusive event.

“Junior/Senior is great because it gives us students the opportunity to dress up for a nice dinner and enjoy a nice evening off of campus,” he said.

The doors will open for the dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the dance will begin at 9:30 p.m.. Students will need to bring their ticket and photo ID to be admitted.

Tickets will be on sale in the Dining Commons during lunch and dinner until April 24th.
